Someone leaked demos from the Guns N’ Roses alleged (probably not) upcoming release and upon hearing three of the tracks, the better of the three streaming above, I’m about to officially say thanks Dr. Pepper, but I’ll just have a bottle of water.
This doesn’t surprise me, but it reminds me that I’m getting older.
First things first, I should establish that I AM a Gn’R fan from way back. When my girlfriends were all about New Kids on the Block I was getting my babysitters to spray my hair up into a mega-tease. I was staying up late in my room with my headphones plugged into the stereo (back when people hooked their TVs up to their rack systems so you could get stereo surround sound without having to buy it?) every Saturday night for Headbangers Ball. Mostly it was to catch a glimpse of those dreadlocks or for when you-know-who’s intro ran. BUT it was also to see the bands from L.A. that were rockin my world between Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral.
I went on vacation with my friend Helen and Cracker’s “Kerosene Hat” and the “Use Your Illusion” records were the soundtrack when they came out.
I went to see Terminator II SOLELY because “You Could Be Mine” was the theme song and I CRIED at the “Don’t Cry” video. “Civil War” is in my top 5 favourite Gn’R songs and I NEVER forget the apostrophe.
