I’m convinced we have “soulmates” out there in the world. I’m not talking about the kind they talk about on The Wedding Story; I mean people who just seem to gravitate toward one another because of a collection of similar interests, similar attitudes and the right combination of traits. Mikey Harren and I are soulmates.
We live on opposite sides of the country, work in fields that couldn’t be more different and were born in slightly different eras. This morning I got a text message from him telling me that I had a mention on his podcast (click the link above to listen) and when I opened it and checked out the track listing, it read like a who’s who of my brain. It hightlights some of the best musicians I know and some of the musicians I wish I knew. From My Brightest Diamond to Gary Numan, I match his picks with enthusiasm and nostalgia I see only every once in a while.

I will be watching the Super Bowl today at Busby’s, which is where I always watch football in L.A. (mostly because it’s full of Eagles fans like me).
